Durham based multimedia artist, Jasmyn Milan, chats with us about creative process and alluring themes in her new single, Hentai Fantasy:

What's your process for making a song?

It's so unique for every song, but a lot of times I come up with the hook first-or the topic. Sometimes I hum out how I want parts to sound. For Hentai Fantasy, it was definitely the fantasy hook first.

What’s the message of Hentai Fantasy?

The message is femme dominance. Femmes having sexual agency and feeling empowered to take control and call the shots -in everyday life, and in the bedroom.

In porn and society, we are often sold a portrait of women as submissive to men. Do you think this is an honest depiction of female fantasy?

To some women it might be a fantasy. To me, even in my submissive moments, I want to feel like what I say goes and I can get whatever I want from my partner. I love the vulnerability and fluidity of escaping into a new world with another person that happens when we have sex. And my partner needs to know that this is my world.

Do we need to act on our fantasies, or is dreaming enough?

I think we should definitely act on our fantasies- life is short. The most important part of bringing our fantasies to life is having comfort in our own skin and with our partner(s). It’s the mental stimulation as well, for me.

How can the adventurous among us begin to try bondage play?

Communication and boundaries! Also, talk nasty and or roleplay. Don’t be afraid to experiment with any props you have (blindfold, whips, anything sexy), and be transparent about what you want & how you want it. Remember that they're lucky to experience you.

Advice to those of us who cannot say
pussy without stuttering?

Practice! [Laughter] The more you say it, the easier it gets.
