Raleigh singer-songwriter Azul is making practical magic to entertain and inspire.

We explore the source of her power in latest release, Magic.

How many eggs does it take to maintain your amazing voice?

Don't tell the vegans, but I eat too many soft boiled eggs in vintage egg cups with a tiny spoon and gluten free toast. And a lot of water. TONS.

Why Magic now?

Because I need it. Life is hard and impossible sometimes, and all the time. And I was going to release Magic last year because it was ready, but I wasn't. Like proper magic, it presented itself when needed. Shit, every other day is another thing that shakes me or us to our cores. But I just think about the power between people and when we choose to believe in each other over the noise. I need magic to keep going.

What's your ideal stage?

To perform? A room of people that are ready to listen. I can make them laugh and maybe shed a tear. With a full band I want space to stomp and strut and lights and all the things but to fill my soul I want to see people's faces.

Advice for skeptics?

What do you have to lose? Like truly, if you don't believe, then you don't believe. But if you try to mess with other people's magic or sense of connectivity towards good and light, then you aren’t a skeptic, you're a hater.

And I wish you the best of luck in keeping your face free of lines and your skin moisturized.
